Born out of the 2020 pandemic, Bundles of Love began when school closures revealed that many local children were going without food on weekends. With the support of generous donors, JA launched Bundles of Love to send home 'Bundles' filled with healthy, shelf-stable foods for students in need. During extended school breaks and holidays, additional items are included to ensure children have what they need while away from school. Events like the Family Field Day and initiatives such as Project Santa further support our mission to provide for these children and their families.

Bundles of Love

Each spring, JA hosts a city-wide Easter Egg Hunt at the Crawford Sports Complex, celebrating the spirit of community much like their Bundles of Love initiative. Families enjoy yard games, activities, and thousands of hidden eggs — 1,600 in 2023 alone. It’s a joyful day of celebration, connection, and childhood fun, reminiscent of the excitement found during Family Field Day and Project Santa.

Additionally, the spirit of giving shines through with initiatives like Project Santa, making this celebration even more meaningful.

Every spring, JA provides two books to every second-grade student at Davidson Elementary and Coffeeville Elementary as part of our Bundles of Love initiative. With the support of an Amazon Wish List and community donors, this project encourages summer reading and helps prepare students for the important third-grade reading assessment. A guest reader joins us on delivery day to share the joy of storytelling, making it a memorable experience that ties into our Family Field Day celebrations. Additionally, we look forward to continuing this spirit of giving through our Project Santa efforts.

JA is proud to bring Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to Yalobusha County. Through this wonderful program, children receive a free, age-appropriate book every month from birth until age six, fostering a love of reading and supporting early literacy. As part of our broader initiatives, such as Bundles of Love and Family Field Day, we aim to help families build home libraries that grow with their children, ensuring they have the resources they need for a bright future, just like our Project Santa efforts.

Launched by the 2023 Provisional Class, the Confidence Kits, part of our Bundles of Love initiative, provide hygiene items and self-care essentials to school nurses in Water Valley and Coffeeville. These kits help students feel confident, clean, and supported throughout the school day, especially during events like Family Field Day and initiatives such as Project Santa.
